I found a pretty good video online today speaking about the gaming industry, ownership, AI, Memory Prices, Next Gen Consoles and how all of these things are connected. Highly recommend to watch it and start or continue to think of your gaming setups and dependencies before it’s too late.
I posted my Going Dark on Windows - An Offline Single Player Gaming PC blog post 3 years ago, and stopped buying games on Steam about 6 years ago. So I’ve had a good amount of time to continue to think about and protect myself against all of this, so I'm happy that none of these things happening at the moment are really affecting me and they won’t affect me in the future either. Lastly, if there was ever some catastrophic situation where I would lose all of my physical cartridges, all of their respective ROM backups, and my only option for gaming was eternally paying a corporation for the “right to play” on a cloud server, I would gladly give up digital gaming completely and stick exclusively to physical card games or board games.
