Hello all, I'm pleased to announce Cactus 5.5.0. Patch notes below. You can continue to download Cactus from the usual locations.
With this release I'm completely done bringing over all of the mods that I could bring over from Windows to Linux! All but 4 were able to be perfectly brought over. This brings us up to a total of 55 Worldstones and 1 Overlay! You can visit Project Sunrise to browse and download the Worldstones.
I've also implemented more quality of life features for Cactus, this more testing of it on different Linux distros, and implemented a new feature to allow the user to decide if they want to show/hide/toggle the "Always Run", "Mini Panel", and "Help Menu Button" in game when a Shard is created by default or Reset. The new settings UI is displayed below.
Besides this, Cactus is pretty much feature complete! I will be implementing a few minor improvements for keyboard navigation ergonomics and will also implement a Dark Mode option, but for now I'm pretty happy where everything is at at the moment.

Cactus 5.5.0
General
---------
- The migration to Linux for all of the Project Sunrise mods is now
complete! I was able to bring a total of 54 mods to Linux with
essentially no issues. The following mods are not compatible and
have been dropped:
- Is Alive (27.9.2015)
- Disotheb (Patch 1)
- World Youth En (3.0 Remastered)
- Genesis (2.0+)
This brings us up to a total of 55 Worldstones and 1 Overlay.
- Updated DVUI to ecffdbf85beea10e9cbabcb370c60619b75e4282.
- Added Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS Testing Results.
- Added Nobara Linux 43 Testing Results.
- Added MX Linux 25.2 (AHS) Testing Results.
- Added documentation regarding avoiding immutable distros.
New Features
--------------
- User Configurable Shard Reset Defaults
Previously Cactus was automatically setting the following registry
settings in order to clean up the Diablo II in-game UI on a fresh
shard creation/reset:
- Always Run
- Hide Mini Panel
- Hide Help Menu Button
This is good when you are a veteran player since we don't want to keep
having to toggle these options when we reset, however we ended up in a
strange situation where if someone is new to Diablo II and are using
Cactus to get their game up and running quickly on Linux, they
wouldn't necessarily know the controls because they are hidden by
default by Cactus. In order to solve this issue, I've made these three
options user configurable. The default options are what Diablo II does
on a fresh install:
- Walking by default.
- The Mini Panel is displayed.
- The Help Menu Button is displayed.
The user can enable all of these options at their discretion.
Improvements
--------------
The following quality of life improvements have been implemented:
- The [Esc] key now automatically closes the Create/Modify/Settings/and
About Windows. Massively increasing ergonomics.
- The Create/Edit window will now remain open after a failure is
detected. This allows the user to easily fix the issue without having
to retype everything again.
- Successfully saving no longer displays a dialog box. This saves the
user time since not having to wait to click a confirmation box when
things already work means we can get back in the game faster or
experiment with different settings faster.
