General

- Project Sunrise Launched
The Cactus Ports Collection has been wiped and we are starting again
from scratch with Project Sunrise! Project Sunrise is my personal and
curated list of mods. I will be testing mods over time on Linux/Wine
and adding them to my public tree. Project Sunrise contains a list of
tested and ready to be used Overlays and Worldstones. Singling is the
first Sunrise Overlay, and Succulent is the first Sunrise Worldstone.
The Project Sunrise name was directly inspired by Gentoo Linux's
Project Sunrise concept and adapted for my needs. Shout out to any
Gentoo Developers that have ever worked on or are still currently
working on Gentoo.
- Tested Cactus on CachyOS and Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (GNOME). Confirmed
working and added to the Main Page Tested On table.
New Features
--------------
- Overlay System Implemented
Cactus now officially has an Overlay system implemented! The overlay
system is explicitly designed to allow local user customizations to be
possible in a safe, fun, and non-destructive way. The new Common/Overlays
directory contains the same structure as the Worldstones directory, with
the difference being that any folders placed in this directory will
supersede any files coming from the Core and Worldstone folders during
the shard creation process.
For example, if you wanted to install Singling, you can now just
easily take the Singling folder for the version you are interested in
and place it into your Overlays folder. Whenever a Shard is created
with a Worldstone that has an equivalently named Overlay, the overlay
system will kick and shadow the files in the Worldstone, without
needing to delete any files in the Worldstone. If you wanted to
rollback Singling, you can now just delete the Singling folder in the
overlay and you are back to the Vanilla Worldstones.
With the overlay system in place, Cactus is now ready for all modding
scenarios.
Improvements
--------------
- The default backup path for your system is now automatically shown in
the Setting's Backup Path field.
- Made some UI improvements and tweaks.
- Added more documentation on various subjects such as Local Muling and
Video Resolutions.
