Hey all,
I started playing D2 in LAN cafes when LoD came out. I remember we kept notebooks where ppl wrote down runewords since Internet wasnt available. We also used to have PvP tournaments, sometimes with completely ridiculous characters edited with ShadowMaster
Around 2003-2004 I finally started playing at home. Most of my D2 time since then has been SP and offline
I used ATMA back in the day for muling, and still have my characters from 1.09 and 1.10. I had a few Battle.net runs as well, but offline play was always the main thing for me
Ive also been registered on Diabloii.net since around 2005, and I spent a lot of time reading guides on the old Diablo II Strategy Compendium. I also lurked around the Amazon Basin and Lurkers Lounge, because I loved unusual builds like the Abbot or Axe Zon or Blender sin
I think one of my first Pats was a Frost Zealot that I built from Kitriara's guide. I also played Concentrate Barbarian, Summon Necro, a Tiger Strike Assassin using a 2h weapon with Cloak of Shadows
Later on I experimented with some private servers and mods. I played a little on Eurobattle.net and Path of Diablo, I considered Project Diablo 2 as well but the universal melee splash mechanic wasnt really my thing. My last serious Diablo II run was an old version of Median somewhere around the 1.F9 era. I also briefly played things like Succulent and Singling, before those mods became difficult to find
After that I basically stopped playing Diablo II for quite a while
Now Ive come back to it. I still have my CDs and Ive been looking through the older patches trying to decide what kind of run I actually want to do (atm Im leaning toward Classic HC on 1.09b)
Ill probably need some help getting exactly the setup I want working, but Ill make a separate thread for that. For now, I just wanted to say that this place looks cool and reminds me of the old days
