Always into the East...

The one thing I could not stand was not being able to play offline and without the battle.net launcher. I had all the files extracted to disk, I have like 10 licenses of this game, just let my play my own files on my own game without checking in to see if blizzard allows it.
Can't wait to get plugged into all the cool features of singling and poke around with some different early patches and farm some cow king.
 
Yea definitely. I actually deleted my Battle.net account many years ago in protest lol. I lost some stuff (like my Diablo 3 Tyrael Wings since I was one of the D3 Collector’s Edition owners on Launch Day 2012) but most of the games I already had either backed up or in CD format and I also made backup disc images of them as well. I’m not ever planning on buying something from Blizzard again so I’m good.
 
Yeah, I have my original cds and keys safe and multiple digital copies saved w their license keys. I enjoy seeing the way that they continue to develop for D2R and appreciate some of the quality of life stuff as long as we keep D2R a separate thing and nobody messes with my legacy game. Projects like this make that much easier and more enjoyable, so thanks again!

lol bro I almost pulled a fearedbliss once and deleted my battle.net account during the whole WC3 Reforged/Refunded fiasco. I was so pissed at how bad that game was at launch and it was nothing like I expected. They actually removed features that were there in the original 2003 game. I believe this was back in 2020. I couldn't go through with the deletion though, mainly because I had played WoW actively from 2006-2010, so I have four years worth of good memories on that account. What really sucks though is those memories are stuck behind a $15 monthly sub/paywall, lol. I think I last paid the $15 and logged in back in 23' just to walk around Dalaran with my Warrior. It was actually depressing though, the old guild was long gone, and the game client had been updated to some atrocity that looked nothing like the game I left in 2010. Oh and I got insta-leveled up to like level 85 which was weird. Currently there's a ton of people on social media hyping the shit out of WoW: Forever, and I'm just like, nah bruh, I'm good. I don't believe games, even MMOs, should be behind a subscription. You don't own your character or any of your progress, so it's a complete and utter waste IMO.
 
That’s how I feel as well, that I would rather have the experience in something I actually own, but I suppose some people are fine just experiencing it without owning. The more important thing is more about the need to have to pay a corporation money to play a game for essentially the rest of my life. I object to that idea strongly. If I loved WoW and wanted to play it forever but came to the realization that that would require me giving them money for the rest of my life, that seems sad, insane, and ridiculous. But everyone has the right to decide how they want to spend their time and money on so to each their own. All good.

Well, if you need a reason to finally make the push, they just recently forced it to be online only and removed LAN support. I saw how the game industry tested the waters in the early 2010s with paid DLC or internet connection requirement for single player games, then after a few years of people continuing to buy it anyway, they migrated to full on loot boxes or *disposable* in-game currencies that must be purchased with real money. No amount of forum posts on blizzard's or any other company's site or heart felt emails are going to improve their games. The only thing you can do is just stop buying/supporting products and companies you don't agree with. Sadly, this has locked me out of buying most things in the last 10-15 years but there's a huge backlog of retro stuff I can't find time for anyway.
 
Same as me @galaxyhaxz. I've just been expanding my GB, GBC, GBA, DS, SNES physical cartridge collection and PC collection for older games with CDs that work on offline single player, and/or also digital games with no DRM from GOG. I literally don't have time to play all of them and D2 takes a good portion of my gaming budget. Although I'm also playing Pokemon Blue and Super Mario Bros for SNES as well. I also use the Save The Heroes, Builders ROM dumper to back up the whole collection and carry them on my Anbernic RG35XX+.
