Hello all,

It's been a year since I've made a major update to my Cantonese Language learning game, The Cantonese Scrolls. I'm happy to announce that I've just released the new edition. There has been some major updates to it and it took me a while to get it done, but I'm happy everything is now on this new philosophical foundation for various parts of the game flow.

A few things I want to highlight are:

- The entire game's organization layout has been changed from a combination of Wing Chun + Diablo 1 Architecture and Organization to a Diablo II architecture. What does this mean? It means that instead of having the 3 Wing Chun Forms + Bottomless Diablo 1 Dungeons (or at least up to Level 16 in the real Diablo 1), the game is now divided into Acts + Quests. All existing dungeons have been transformed into quests and there are now a full 5 acts, each with 6 quests, for a total of 30 quests! I've also kept the location themes relatively faithful to Diablo II, and I've also had the honor to actually have Diablo II's Act 4 be the ice level and Act 5 be the "fire/hell" level, and Act 4 and Act 5 both have 6 full quests!

- All of the initial encounters for all 30 quests have been completely re-written. They now have a brand new flow and strategy for guiding the learner through the language.

- My original Cantodex Database from the original The Cantonese Scrolls website is fully back and revived! This beautiful database was lost when I transitioned from the website to the PDF approach for development/distribution. The Cantodex is currently about 67 pages long and can be found at the end of the book.

- The game now includes a Maphack for every quest. At the end of every quest, after you finish fighting the boss, you will be transitioned into the Maphack zone which shows you all of the Cantonese romanization/pronounciations and english translations for the boss that you just fought. Allowing you to check your knowledge. If what you wrote doesn't match what the maphack says, then you need to get back into dem dungeons and slay those Monsters of Understanding. Wisdom can only be developed by those who actually walk the path, and learn through their own personal experience.

- A new automatic romanization system has been re-implemented.

- All romanizations will now appear below the characters (not above).

- Other improvements and polishes.

To quickly navigate through the game, you can use the Waypoint system, which is exposed through your PDF reader's bookmark/outlines navigation section. You can see a full list of all Acts/Quests/Etc below.

If you are interested or know someone interested in learning Cantonese, please share. This is a completely free resource that I've been working on for 3 years so far, and there are no strings attached, no DRM, fully downloadable for offline use. There is also a donation button in the game if you want to say thanks or want to support my development, but no pressure, I do this for the passion of it (as I do with Cactus and Diablo II preservation), this is just me taking my preservation, coding, and documentation skills and extending it to an entire language. It's not for the money, but money doesn't hurt LOL.

Take care and stay safe,
Jonathan
