Hello,

I'm looking to try out the 1.09b Final Update mod once I finish up with 1.08. I had a couple questions though.

1. Would it be possible to "easily" add additional 1.08 uniques to it?
2. Is it possible to use with PlugY, specifically the shared stash and infinite stash features?

If not, any recommendations how to go about replacing 1.09 uniques with their 1.08 counterparts in vanilla 1.09?

Thanks!

I’ll let others answer your questions but due note that 1.09b Final Edition is available for easy installation in the Cactus Ports Collection and should be available in our Resource Manager as well.

2. It's not compatible with PlugY or Alpaca, in my experience.

PlugY might hook conflicting places in the code, but I believe the newer PlugY versions broke a lot of older patches anyway so you want PlugY 10.00 or older. For uniques, you can just replace Uniques.txt with the version from 1.07 or 1.08. You can also just do vanilla 1.09 with the 1.08 uniques.txt too.

why do you want 1.08 in 1.09? lots of 1.08 items are the same in 1.07. you can move items from one patch to another too most times.

Could be several reasons, but I'd guess it's because racking in 1.07 is boring and super time consuming, and getting them in 1.08 is pretty much impossible without Souls (which is basically a cheat code). So having them in 1.09 lets you have an actual proper patch to play where the more desired items can drop in a manner where you play the game for fun instead of grinding dumb things or abusing cheats to get them. That's pretty much why I added them to the 1.09b Final Mod in the first place, playing 1.07 and to a lesser extent 1.08 feels super cheesy at times, almost like you're just using Hero Editor.

This exactly. Racking takes way too long and is not fun. Souls was fun once or twice but I'd rather not have to do that to find items. 1.09 fixed a lot of bugs in 1.07 and 1.08. Seems like the best pre-1.10 patch to play.

Lol shameless plug but Succulent is already based on 1.09b, has 1.08 uniques, and a bunch of other improvements and changes so you might be interested in checking it out :p
Succulent looks fun! I think my hesitance was from removal of charms. I think I kind of agree with the change though (it is so annoying to run out of inventory space!) but I still want to make a character with an inventory filled with skillers lol. It seems like you've made many changes to this mod overtime. I'd be curious to read up on all the previous versions. Do you have that anywhere?

@soulgazer Not the full list since Succulent used to be called Vanilla Frosting at a certain point of its life and very early on it was called D2Enhanced if we really go back to the very beginning lol. You’ll definitely find Vanilla Frosting references online. But you can check out the PATCH NOTES file in the repo.

Charm removal was something I wanted to do but was hesitant about it. However I spoke to Chris Wilson recently and he directly made the suggestion to remove Charms. So that was what finally made me make the change and give it a shot. The game does feel cleaner, and more tight without them I have to admit. It gives me that D2 Classic feeling but with the added Lod content.

Succulent is where I finally got hold of my 1.08 string of ears! I second the plug ~ Succulent FTW! 😁
@soulgazer That being said... do note the legendary 1.09b Fix-up Final Update is also goated... so @galaxyhaxz also deserves her flowers. 🌹🌷🌹🌷

I really like the other changes beyond the 1.08 uniques... such as improved gamble rates, removed MF diminishing returns, and a myriad of bug fixes...

^_^

I mean, check this Shako!!! 08 stats w/ Mana!!! It's one of my fav items which my MF Sorc* proudly rocks forever and ever. Final update ftw... 😁

Cool, I'll check out those patch notes.

I can't argue with Chris Wilson! I can see how it would feel cleaner. The constant 'I am overburdened' is quite annoying while leveling. I wonder how much harder the content is without charms. Having a full inventory of skillers is quite powerful...

Let’s just say you’ll be fine :).

It is funny how much I agree with Chris Wilson all the time. 😅

He recently mentioned this in the interview with MrLlamaSC, how charms do not just fill your inventory, but work like another piece of your gear. This was the same conclusion that I came to, when I went back to playing classic and then pre expansion again. Having too many makes each individual piece feel less impactful. That is something I always hated about the charms.

There are already enough item slots. No need to add an antire inventory full of Small Charms. 😵‍💫

Btw: Damn! You spoke to Chris Wilson himself? I'm jealous! 😂

True enough. In all my HC runs on 1.08, I have yet to find 1 skiller and it's been fine.

So true. Charms have always felt a little awkward, a little messy. Other iterations on charms like Last Epoch or PD2 with charm-only inventory still felt messy to me. You're right in that it is just another piece of gear. Maybe if it was reduced to 3 charm slots, small, large and grand it would feel better. POE2 kind of did that but the charms are way less powerful. 🤔
