Do Debuffs/Curses immediately remove Buffs/Shrines?

OK... I have a noobish question for y'all, because after 25 years of Diablo II, I just realized I don't know how this works, lmaoo

So, say you pick up an experience shrine, and you have the little cross above your head...

Then you want to smash some Act 5, but those pesky Stygian Harlots tag you with the blood mana curse (I think it's impossible to avoid?).

Of course the little cross above your character goes bye-bye...

Does this immediately remove the buff you have on? Or do you still have it for the full duration, minus the visual?!

Shrines are treated as curses, just positive. It's removed/overwritten by the negative curse.
