Hi everyone,
I was very pleasantly surprised to find this community while looking into various time traveling discussions about D2 (specifically 1.09). I've been playing D2 on and off since around the release of LOD after seeing my older brother play and have always without any hesitation felt the best version of the game was 1.09. I just remember sharing the family PC for our 2 hour time limit gaming sessions (felt like they went so fast when playing D2) since there were 4 of us rotating.
I got into playing 1.09b via single player a couple years ago and have played on and off since, trying to gather items for various classes (started with a bowazon who is almost 97 and MFs for me). I appreciate all you have done to make this possible as it allows me to relive some of my favorite gaming memories, thank you.
Diablo 2 has made such and impact and I share the thoughts of some of the others that once the big 3 left it could never be the same. Anyhow, back to MFing on my zon. I'm happy to have a place now to discuss the version with and share finds!

It was great reading your story. I too remember the days of sharing a family PC and itching for my turn so that I could fire up Diablo 2 on school nights. You are so on point (at least in my mind) about 1.09 being the absolute best version of the game. And I too started with a Bowazon when I came back, as she is the undisputed queen of the patch. Mine is up to level 91 at the moment, and big kudos to you, by the way, on level 96/almost 97! One of the many reasons that I love 1.09 is that it's actually feasible (still takes time) to get a character up to level 99.
FYI: I've been working on getting some members online via TCP/IP, as a fun way to occasionally break up the monotony of single player (even though I absolutely love SP). FearedBliss and I recently linked up for some Classic 1.05b, and it was a blast. Anyways, if multiplayer is something that interests you, let's connect.

I saw your threat about the multiplayer. Do you have a voicechat any of you hang out in when you're playing randomly? I saw ventrilo mentioned which brought back some amazing memories as well since I used that playing CS for so long.

Nice! I've been needing a Wookiee to help with the occasional hyper drive malfunction (lol). I also love me some Star Wars (the old sh1t), before the dark times... before... Disney.

Right now it's a ghost town, but in time I'm hoping to have a solid little band for old school gaming sessions. As you are probably aware, most of the herd has gone violently down a steep cliff (D2R).

Welcome to the forums. I'm glad you are having fun and have found us. I'm currently in the process of setting up a Mumble server for us. At the moment I've been using Manny's Ventrilo server haha <3. I'll post the details once that's up and running. I'm also fine with more people joining Manny and It's 1.05b MP if Manny is ok with it. In terms of tools and other things to use, we jus use anything that comes with Cactus. If it's included in Cactus, then it can be used for our MP sessions. So Cactus, Singling, cnc-ddraw is all ok. For SP sessions, feel free to use whatever makes you happy, it's your own computer and experience after all.
Although for your own MP groups, if everyone in the group agrees to use some mod or something else, then that's fine for your group. It just depends what everyone in your team agrees to use. Find people that you are compatible with and would find the game fun to play with.
