I don't remember having those before but I made sure I included them in Cactus for everyone. I think the Cactus D2 1.0 files came directly from my discs (IIRC.. it's been many years and now this part of my memory is fuzzy). Although that probably is correct given that I released Bliss Version Switcher (and thus the Bliss Complete Collection) in 2013, which included 1.0... so that would have been 13 years later from original D2's release.
Oops, I never responded to this. That is amazing dude. Thanks again for all the time and efforts in creating the Bliss Version Switcher, which we now know as Cactus. I wouldn't be playing if I didn't have Singling and a way to play those old versions. It really made a big difference for me. I tried Sven's Wrapper and D2DX, and they were okay, but just not for me.

BTW, on the topic of Starcraft: I picked up a NOS Battlechest , same as yours, from eBay and it just came in on Friday. I was amazed that Windows 10 recognized the disks right away without issue and I was able to install both Classic & Broodwar without a hitch. After that I patched to 1.16-1 using the EXE you hosted, and then applied the NO CD fix which was implemented in 1.15 according to my research. All I had to do was copy two files from the disks and rename them in the game folder - Install.Exe from the SC CD to Starcraft.MPQ and Install.Exe from the Expansion CD to BroodWar.MPQ.

Take it easy

No prob @Manny . I'm glad the tools have been helpful. Even though I only really like using old Windows versions (XP and 7), Microsoft's backwards compatibility has always been amazing. Props to them for that.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I still need to finish collecting the rest of the SC patches that Blizzard released after they closed down their public FTP sites. Although from what I remember, 1.08 was the last patch Blizzard released for like 5-10 years before they released jew patches. So that made 1.08 one of the most played patches and allowed that patch to become I guess you can say the foundation of knowledge in South Korea as well (for their competitive SC scene).

I do see here that there weren't really any extremely long term gaps in the patch notes but I do remember watching some SC history stuff where they spoke about one of those patches 1.07 or 1.08 being played for years in SK.

@fearedbliss

Indeed, this backward compatibility is crazy. The game released in 1998 for crying out loud.

RE: Win XP, Have you heard of Delta Edition? https://xpdelta.weebly.com/

Oh, and that was the site I used to figure out how to get the NO CD fix added! Lots of great info on there. Please let me know when you get those "new" (not jew!) patches :D

Lol will do!

I hadn't heard of the delta edition, but you already know me, I like using the original versions with as little modifications as possible <3.
