Saving/Archiving Forum Posts
Since my return to D2 I have amassed dozens of bookmarks of old forum posts with valuable D2 knowledge, mainly regarding older patches that I intend to play. The thing is some of these sites are no longer actively managed and could eventually disappear from the web. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good ways to archive said posts? Of course I have a printer, and I know about saving a page as PDF, but wondering if there are any other solutions that I'm not aware of. Often I'm just trying to save one particular post, and not an entire thread. So far the best solution for me has been taking screenshots, but that's kind of a chore.

In Linux you can use wget:
This works well on simple sites like Arreat Summit. That command recursively gets the whole website, gets the page requisites and converts links to work on the local files. Having local files makes it so nice when looking things up in D2.
It doesn't work well for the Wayback Machine as it takes snapshots of pages and not whole sites which makes it a bit of a mess. There are supposed to be some programs to download from Wayback Machine but I've not been bothered to go into it too much.
It also doesn't work well for forums, so much for backing up my posts I spend time writing :p.
Code: Select all
wget -rkp http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/

Thanks for that @hedgesparrow, I'll definitely be taking advantage of that for some of those simple sites like Arrest Summit.
I'm moving this thread to The Tavern since it's more generic than D2 specific

For those not on Linux:
I found a chrome extension (works on Brave too) called FireShot, which by way of a single click (or by use of hotkeys), will scan the entire webpage, creating one seamless screenshot, and then provides options such as save as PDF, as an image, print, etc.
I have been archiving some of my favorite pages from diabloii.net this way.
