Hello all,
I've pushed a minor update to the Cactus bundle and bumped the cnc-ddraw version from 5.6.0.0 to 5.8.0.0. This brings several bug fixes and features. We'll most likely be interesting in the slow down fixes for Windows 7 if you are running that OS. I've actually been having slow downs on Windows 10 but I figured out that the reason it was slowing down was because I was using OBS w/ Game Capture Mode as the main way of recording the screen. I switched it back to Window Capture Mode and that seems to have fixed the issue. There was a reason in the past that I switched from Window Capture to Game Capture but not sure. I'll keep using Window Capture Mode as long as no issues arise. You can read all of the release notes for cnc-ddraw here.
I also noticed that my MpqFixer was still licensed under the Apache License 2.0. I've also relicensed this now to the Simplified BSD License, which is the same license Cactus uses.
Let me know if you experience any issues or if you notice any speed improvements. You can Download Cactus at the usual location.

Just updated and no issues to report! This machine is on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC (21H2) so I wasn't really experiencing any slowdown before, so unfortunately can't comment on that, but I'm happy to have the more recent cnc-ddraw
As a side note: Perhaps you might consider creating an 'Upgrade' release option in the future for those of us who don't need to redownload all the Platform Files, Singling, MPQ fixer, etc.
I was thinking a little bundle with the dozen or so Cactus files & cnc-ddraw is all that's needed, unless the person is starting fresh. That way I can just unzip that folder into my Diablo II folder and be on my way. Either way, it takes like 30 seconds to pull the files I need, so not a big deal at all -- but figured I'd suggest it.
As always, thanks for Cactus, and the update, bro!

No problem @Manny. I’m glad you aren’t having any issues.
As for the the upgrade option, the thing is that my release process is mostly manual, so it’s easier for me to maintain just one bundle. One of the reasons the bundle is small and using high compression is so that even if you did need to redownload the latest bundle completely, the compression rate, file size, and modern internet download speeds are fast enough that a 100 MB bundle isn’t really a concern.

Ah, makes sense bro. No worries. I was mostly being lazy. It's not like these updates are everyday or anything, and yeah, it takes me less than a minute to grab the files I need.fearedbliss wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 10:58 pm No problem @Manny. I’m glad you aren’t having any issues.
