Major Bugs
  • Fixed a video driver crash encountered when displaying graphics in the Battle.net chat room.
  • Fixed copy-protection for various CD, DVD and CD-R drives.
  • Fixed a problem where character avatars were left in the list after that character had left a channel.
  • Fixed several visual glitches with the character select screen.

Undocumented Bugs

The following bugs are things I've experienced in 1.05b that I don't remember reading about in existing sources. These may also exist in all other Pre-1.07 versions.

Out Of Body Experience (Video)

Sometimes when you die, only your character's "soul" will resurrect, and will only run, in place, on top of your physical body. You won't be able to chat, move any inventory items, interact with your potions, etc. The only solution is to Save and Exit. I feel like this may happen if your character dies in a weird location where the surrounding tiles possibly contain other stuff. But take that with a medium-sized grain of salt.

Access Violation when entering Canyon of the Magi Portal (Hell)

When doing the Hell Summoner quest, there is a chance that when you enter the Canyon of the Magi Portal, your game will crash with an Access Violation. If this happens, the game will keep crashing when you attempt again. The only workaround I found was to re-roll the map with one that doesn't have the same portal location. If you were to re-roll a new map which happened to also have the same portal location, the game will crash again. I haven't tested if these crashes happen in other difficulties.

Regarding the out of body experience it is present at least also in 1.00. It happened a lot to me back in the day. I allways figured it was related to the usage of iron maiden + blood golem. The blood golem does not die when you die, and the iron maiden cursed enemies keep attacking the golem. Since the blood golem steals life for you when attacked by enemies with iron maiden, this means that your hp canreach a positive value even though you are dead. This might leave the game in a bugged state (Shrödingers Necromancer) since some game flags were probably set on your death, while other flags seem to be directly related to if the hp > 0.

Thanks for that @jw123. It’s nice to have that confirmation of 1.00 behavior. That’s interesting you mention Necro. I might have experienced this bug on another class that doesn’t have IM/BG though. I’ll keep an eye out for this..

No problem @fearedbliss

It might be possible to trigger the bug also in another way with other classes. But an almost certain way to trigger it is to go to the moo moo farm, bring a blood golem, put iron maiden on all the cows, make sure that one group is hacking away at your golem, and then just stand still and let another group kill you.

That makes sense @jw123 and seems to be like a clear way to reproduce the issue.
