Hello all,

I'm happy to announce Succulent 2024-12-01-0100! This latest version of Succulent contains major changes, clean ups, and streamlining of all of the drop tables, itemization systems, etc. A lot of Succulent was reverted back to 1.09b since I like to stay close to the Vanilla patches, but with my own twists. This should feel a lot more "legit" and closer to the original spirit and feeling of 1.07/1.08 mixed with the polished foundation of 1.09b. This is of course my personal interpretation and expression of my experience time traveling between all of these versions of Diablo II, and playing Diablo 1, as stated in Succulent's core description. These improvements will continue to make Succulent a fun and enjoyable mod to play for decades to come, primarily for myself, but sharing it with others <3.

Below are the latest patch notes:

2024-12-01-0100

  • All unique items have been reverted to their 1.08 equivalent.
  • Charged affixes are back in the game and reverted to their 1.09b defaults.
  • Classic gambling has been removed. Gambling is back to its 1.09b defaults.
  • Gambling prices are now back to their 1.09b defaults.
  • Leeching behavior is back to its 1.09b defaults.
  • The Deadly Craft recipes are now the same as in 1.08.
  • The cube recipes are now back to the 1.09b defaults, but still kept the documented changes.
  • The drop tables, treasure classes, and probabilities are now back to their 1.09b defaults, but still kept the documented changes.
Since this goes deep into the core of how Succulent is played and experienced, I would highly recommend starting a new stash and essentially doing your own "ladder reset". Below you will find the current feature set of this version of Succulent:

As always, you can download the mod by visiting the Succulent page.

@Manny So this was already in Succulent before, but no, what this means is that when the game is going to pick an attribute, consideration of affixes are essentially all equal. So one affix shouldn't have a higher chance to be selected than another affix. And even within affix groups, affixes within each group will also be equally considered. This makes essentially makes it closer to how I under 1.05b to be, which is that 1.05b had a smaller affix pool and every affix was selected from a common pool, so that's why you usually get better rares and rares with better affixes (compared to when we consider some affixes "crappier than others").

Ok cool. This is kind of what I figured. That strikes a good balance from the "unlocked" way you had it in the old version of Succulent (which was wild), and is better than vanilla 1.09b IMO from what you described. I'm stoked to play this ~ thank you!
