October 2024 - Platform Update (XF 2.3.3) & Official Patches

Hey everyone,

I wanted to post a quick message letting everyone know we've successfully upgraded to the latest build of XenForo (2.3.3). This was our first major update since the transition from phpBB, and I'm glad to report there were virtually no issues. Note that I'm not necessarily preoccupied with us always being on the bleeding edge, and often I will deliberately wait or even avoid certain updates. In this instance, however, it seemed safe enough to update, and as a result we now get to enjoy some great new features and improvements such as:
In addition to the platform update, I have been working on our Resource Manager, and have added all Diablo II patches that were released through version 1.10.

Nice, thank you for the updates. I'm also happy you also only mirrored the Diablo II patches up to 1.10. Stay safe here and in Sanctuary.

Also due note that the patch installers that ive mirrored are the original patch installers that Blizzard released over the years so they don't include any modifications. The reference in my post regarding to the Game.exe and file size optimizations are for the files includes in Cactus. I used those original source files to extract and organize them into Cactus. So the files you are mirroring are the original ones themselves. We can edit those posts to just say it's the original source installers. Since they are the original, they will need the CD to play, but you can use the mini images I made and posted here to play them.

This pack contains a freshly made set of Diablo II (1.00) and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (1.07) Mini Images. These images allow you to play the game without the CD. Starting from Patch 1.12, Blizzard allows players to play the game without the CD. Given that a lot of modern computers no longer have a CD drive, this makes sense. For our purposes, this will allow us to still be able to play all of the original versions of Diablo II as well, starting with Patch 1.00.

You cannot use these images to install Diablo II because these images are not complete...
 
@fearedbliss No problem! And thank you for the heads up on the patch files as I definitely misread that post. In a sense I'm actually relieved that they are unmodified as it better serves the purpose of archiving the original game IMO. I'll get the posts updated now to reflect that. And those mini images are dope! You da man!
