[CANCELED] The Moving Caravan Shutting Down

Hello all,

Based on recent conversations, I’ve decided to shut down the forum. I’m providing this message as a heads up so people can have time to either download or archive whatever it is they need from this forum. The forum will be shutdown on January 22, 2024 @ 00:00 ET. In the meantime, user registration has been disabled and the forum is effectively in archive mode till then.

I’m sad to hear the forum is shutting down

This was the only forum filling the exact niche I needed for D2. The only place where I could share my 1.09 progress on my completely unreasonable project and discuss with other like minded people about playing old patches, even if our goals differed.

When I posted my screenshot showing all classes at level 99s on Pure Diablo forums in their single 1.09 thread nobody gave a damn haha. I feel other forums who play old patches mostly do it just to experiment, or theorycraft. While I feel here, we were actually playing thsoe versions for what they are.

Also, thanks a lot for hosting those forums, even for a short time, it made me feel less lonely playing old D2 patches haha

After thinking about this for the past few days, I’ve decided to continue running the forum. In addition to this, the \"ephemeral nature\" feature of the forum is removed, so it will just be normally available. I’ve updated the forum’s intro post to reflect this change.

There have been some other updates. I’ve deleted The Moving Caravan’s Google account, which means the YouTube channel is gone. Not a problem though, I’m hosting the video files directly and am making the mp4s available. Since all the videos are in MP4 format, they can be opened and streamed directly through your browser, downloading them is not necessary. This makes hosting and managing the forum lighter with better privacy for everyone. Since there is no longer a forum email, email activation is no longer required for new account registrations. However, I’ve still kept the forum’s spambot protection enabled so peoples’ automatic registration bot attempts fail.

I hope these actions reflect that even though The Moving Caravan isn’t a democracy, I do value everyone’s opinion and friendship. Let’s move forward with a happy 2024.
